It’s All in the Cards

Donated Cardboard Boxes Recycled into Greeting Cards

AIRS Rwanda donated uncontaminated cardboard boxes that held insecticide bottles to the company Cards for Africa, a fair trade organization that employs Rwandans to produce greeting cards that are sold in Rwanda, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Cards from Africa exclusively employs orphans who are the head of household and therefore responsible for earning the family’s income. Cards from Africa provides the orphans with much needed income and life skills.

The cards are handmade from discarded scraps that would otherwise be destined to burn.
